| the ae86 4age 16v should fit the same as 4age 20v but you would need an ae92 gearbox | |

(considering i will have the help of a great 16v mech.) hmmmm but most for the first two things hehe thanks guys!

| ya there's plenty of these around Ireland as you said already the 16v engines are way easier to work as ive had both ae92 and ae101 and in my honest opinion I think the 16v are way stronger! if you can get a hold of a non tvi-s big port hi-torque engine your on to a winner! | |

| I'll see can I get the link to a thread on Toyota owners club irl of one of the lad who swapped out a 20v in to an E10 saloon, took them about 21hours over two days and drove it home! | |

im confused... the non tvi-s engine comes with a small port or you mean a non tvi-s engine with a big port computer??

| sorry man I should have explained better ha, when I say port I mean exhaust port and intake port on the head, the tvi-s head is a low torque engine with smaller ports in and out, the later spec in ae92 fwd models had the non tvi-s big port head, bigger ports mean more air fuel in and exhaust out, thicker con rods etc in general a better engine | |

| Afaik all the big port heads were equipped with tvis and only late models came with the 7rib block with the oil squirters, these are known as the ''low torque'' engines. The later ''high torque'' engine had the small ports and no tvis which was usually found in ae92.Unless you have cams with high enough lift and duration to take advantage of the big port head and some crazy revs your better off with the later small port 7rib engine. Is that steelballz corolla vinnie? | |

| To clear up the confusion (or maybe add to it). Bigport engines (ie TVIS) have intake larger ports on the head but smaller runners (because there are two runners per port for the TVIS to work). The later smallport engines have smaller ports on the head but larger runners (because there is only one runner per cylinder). Here is a comparison shot of the two - bigport is on top, smallport is on bottom. All bigport 4AGEs have TVIS, the early ones have the 3-rib blocks, higher lift cams and smaller journal sizes (blue and black cam cover writing, exposed plug leads), the later ones have 7-rib blocks, smaller cams and bigger journals (red and black cam cover writing, exposed plug leads), neither of them have oil squirters though. The smallport 4AGE does not have TVIS, but has a 7-rib block, oil squirters, larger journals and smaller lift cams, with red and black cam cover writing and covered plug leads. AE86 - Bigport, 96kw (JDM only) AE82 - Bigport, 86/88kw AW11 - Bigport, 86/88kw AE92 - Smallport, 100kw | |

| Are you sure about the oil squirters?A friend of mine is rebuilding his ae92 4age smallport and it has oil squirters aiming underneath the piston skirt. | |
