My 8k8 blue ee101

Well lads been on this for a while now so said i might aswell start a project thread.I bought my corolla last november.
Its a 96 brilliant blue pearl xli and i'm the third owner on it(the previous owner was an elderly lady and had the car since 2000).
Anyway here's some pics of when i got it.....

First thing i done was change the front seats for a set of ae101 seats,had some levin mats there aswell so i
threw them in to along with a trd gearknob.

I picked up a rough se-limited for buttons,it had the hvac,electric windows and mirrors ect....




So i got to stripping out the se-limited.No pics with the dash out but you get the idea.





Then on to the blue bullet






Old carpet was looking pretty sorry for itself.


The rear doors had to come off and be drilled for the rear loom for the electrics.




Picked up 20v clocks and a broadway mirror.



Two looms out,you can see the difference.



And more stripping.






Starting to go back together.



Under the back seat had a bit of surface rust prob where someone spilt a drink so i sanded it down and
gave it a lick of paint.Then gave the whole interior a good wash.


Roolcloth,doorcards and carpet cleaned and back in.




Next was the interior trim and seatbelts.


The 4efe body and engine loom was completly different to the 5afe one so i had to rewire the 16 pin 4efe ecu
plug and interior-to-body plugs.

My rewired ecu plug.



My old speakers were knackered but luckily i had a set of alpines lying around so i went and threw them in.






Got a new head unit to compliment my new speakers.


Everything all wired up and back together.










Gave it a quick polish,it came up pretty good for an hours work.






Thats where it stands at the moment,next is to wetvac the whole interior and clean up the plastics.

Great job. But what about the rear garnish and levin seat? Maybe a miss a thing.

Rear garnish wont be going on till I have the money to get the bumper sprayed,also have jap front wings, sprinter grill and gt fx front bumper to go on.As for the seats I'm undecided atm but I will prob end up throwing two recaros into the front.

I would but its kinda part of this build if you know what I mean

Great Job Swapping everything over! Paint Looks Great!

Just a small update.Cleaned up the interior a little during the week,will get up more pics next when its cleaned properly and have my new speakers installed under the parcel shelf.

Little bit more done since last update.I fitted levin rear axel including shocks,discs,calipers,arms,hubs,anti-roll bar ect...
I also fitted a set of rsr lowering springs front and back and trd front strutbrace.
Anyway here's some pics.

Levin rear axel out.



Stripped down the rear of the corolla.




Fitted the lowering springs.



Levin anti-roll bar vs the corolla one.



Then done the front springs and put it back together.







Fitted the trd strutbrace,didnt drill out the holes for the rear bolts yet as i didnt have a holesaw that would fit.


And as it sits now.

Thanks man.Mine was pretty sorry looking when i got it but i stripped it down and resprayed it ford grey.
Btw what skirts will fit my car or where could i get genuine bz touring skirts?

Ok its been a while since i've been near this so i think its time for a bit of an update.First things first,i got a few small bits.

Got some levin wheels and new tires along with a set of moulded mudflaps which i sprayed matt black.


Facelift rear lights.


And corolla xc grill.


After that i started stripping down the doner car.So i got out the engine,superstrut ect...







So i left it for a while and just started collecting some goodies

About 2 weeks ago i started working on the conversion in my spare time.
So the first thing i done was get the engine and suspension out.



Then i started stripping the bay out and first to go was the brake servo.
The servo on the corolla only has one vacuum whereas the levin has two.
This is prob to keep vacuum on both sides of the of the itb's so there won't
be an imbalance and i believe on the 20v corolla's its tee'd off at the servo.

Anyway here is the corolla servo.


And here is the levin servo fitted.


When that was done i changed the the power steering rack.I done this because to run the blacktop pas pump
you will need custom lines if you chose to retain the corolla rack.Just a quick note,you don't have to change the rack to use super strut afaik.I believe its just tie rods and track rod ends that need changing.

Corolla on the top and levin on bottom.



Since the blacktop uses itb's the throttle cable is much shorter so that had to be changed aswell.


I was going to be using the c160 6 speed aswell so i had to change the shifter and linkages.



Got started on my wiring,basically merging the body part of the 4efe loom to
the engine/ecu part of the 4age loom.




In the e10's the last ecu plug is part of the dash loom instead of just going straight
out to the fusebox on the e11's.So i had to make the third plug of my blacktop ecu
part of the corolla cabin loom.




So just sat the engine in on the two subframe mounts and plugged in the loom lastnight.


Dash lights,head lights and all body related electrics are working.


I couldn't start the car as i had no oil and nothing else was hooked up.I will check over everything with the multimeter first and go through it top to bottom before i plug in the ecu and try to start it.When the car has been running fine for two or three days i will the the loom back out and sleeve it properly.

Thats as far as i have gotten for now anyway so will prob be sunday till i get near it again.
