Corolla GT recreation

Alright, so I've owned a base model AE101 as my first car for a couple of years now, and has been nothing but amazing. A couple of months ago another one popped up that grabbed my attention so well that I HAD to have it. Now, I know it's already been built by someone else, but I've got plans to turn it into my own car. It's come so far already, but there's still a long way to go!


So here's how I bought her.
1991 Corolla GT Sedan.
Blacktop engine swap
C56 Trans swap
MRP Adjustable suspension
17x9 +15 .com racing wheels
FX front bumper + civic lip.

Yeah man, but only in the front when it's on full lock. Probably because the tyres I put on the front are far too wide.

I've been thinking lately, and I think I'm going to ditch the 17" rims for something a LOT smaller. My aim is a serious lack of ground clearance, and I think with the wheels I'm currently looking for, that's going to be an achievable low

what size are you going for?
15" with 40 profile tyres?

Thinking of a 14 with a 45 profile. Haven't test fit 14s on it yet, but my daily 94 rolla has them factory, so I'd assume they'd fit?

yeah 14" should fit, factory are 14" but if you are running twinpots then 14" wont fit

I don't think it's had a brake upgrade? I'll have a go when I get home at getting some 14s onto it

I'd go for 15s or 16s, depending on the spoke design.

Yeah I thought about putting 16's on my daily before I got the GT. I was thinking about getting some 15" in a 4x100, but in order to fill my guards out (believe me it looks ridiculous with narrow wheels) they'd have to be atleast 8 inches wide with a 0 offset.. Now any decent wheel with those specs doesn't come cheap since the VW and BMW boys seem to like keeping the prices up. The only other option was running wheel adapters (from 4x100 to 4x114.3) and finding some rims I liked, since a lot seem to come up in decent offsets from AE86s etc..

I mean my guards are pulled out A LOT, so I've only really got 2 criteria.

Well, the ground clearance is all about your overall tire diameter. You need smaller tires, not necessarily smaller wheels (though yes, smaller than 17 lol)

any pics of the adaptors?

I've decided to go for a set of 16x9's with a +15. A little bigger than I first wanted, but I absolutely love these wheels (hopefully you guys will too). And I have the intention of getting camber bolts for the rear and camber plates up front, this should allow me to bring the tops of the rims into the guards more to allow for more low

Now I just have to wait to get my cert wheels back from my friend whom got the car impounded... Then to sell my 17's, then ship these bad boys over
