| Hi everybody. Yes, I'm still alive and so is my corolla. I havnt had anything new or exciting to post plus my camera got smashed (somebody knocked it off a 3 story balcony) so I only have my camera phone. I am also only working PT so I have absolutely no money to invest in my car, except for oil changes and gas lol.
I guess my latest update would be me tightening my oil filter. I was checking fluid levels cpl days ago and everything was pretty near full, but then I noticed how much oil I was leaking which seemed to be coming from the filter. So sure enough, I checked and it was extremely loose, I tightened it by hand almost by a full turn. Is it possible for the oil filter to rattle loose? Or did my oil shop just not tighten it? Lol
I probably will go silent again for a while, I am using my phone for internet to save money so it is very difficult to load all the pics in threads, but I will be around soon, hopfully with something to share

| I must say I am amazed at how well it is performing for everything still running on stock parts. And I think my shop just put the filter on loose to make the change easier next time, but it shouldn't have been as loose as it was. Atleast I caught it right lol. Still no new pics yet but should have some good updates in a couple of months. First things first, suspension, bearings and allignment and brakes. Its quite a scary ride at the moment, but as long as my passengers don't know that, its ok for now lol | |

| Hi everybody, just a little update: some good news and some bad news... Good News: I finally tightened up my powersteering and alternator belt and no longer have a screaming sqeaky belt sound when its wet or cold. Plus I finally got my super annoying vibrating exhaust sound. Took it to a shop and they fixed it in less than 5 mins with a crow bar, I don't know how they did it (I watched but he was too fast), but he gave me another 3 mm clearance and the noise is gone. It feels and sounds so much better now. Bad News: Failed Emissions Test !!! I was a little nervous it wouldn't pass but my mechanic was sure it would. Regardless of I being OBD 2, they did a tail pipe test. Here's the results.. 2 Speed Idle Tailpipe Emissions Inspection Results: 2500 RPM. Limit. Reading. Hydrocarbon (ppm). 200. 184. Pass Carbonmonoxide (%). 1. 0.92. Pass RPM. 2250-2750. 2484. Valid Dilution %. 6. 14.74. Valid Idle Limit. Reading HC (ppm). 200. 613. Fail CO (%). 1. 0.48. Pass RPM. Less than 1250. 717. Valid. Dilution %. 6. 13.95. Valid This is a confusing test result lol. It passed the 2500 RPM. Test but failed the Idle test and is over the HC limit by 3 times. Hopefully its just something like the O2 sensor (I've only replaced the rear O2 sensor) and hopefully its not the exhaust header itself. I have to take it somewhere that is accredited under the drive clean program and I can get upto 450$ in repairs. | |

| Hey bro, welcome back!
It's always the HCs. I don't think the header could be the problem, though the cat might be bad.
Can you find another place to do the test with just the plug in?

| I think there are a cpl test facilities in my area but if I go back to the same one after I get repairs, I get a discount. On my test. I forgot to ask why they didn't do the OBD plug test in the first place.
Well see how it goes | |

| Everybody I've asked locally seems to think the SRI is the root of the problem. So I am off to pick up a stock air filter and box from the wreckers (through mine out). Hopefully that's all I need. Just wish it didn't freeze rain and snow last night, its gonna make for xtra labour at the wreckers; but maybe I can knock the price down lol | |

| Well its hooked up now (got one from wreckers already taken off for 20 bucks). But now I have to go right back and get a new coolant reservoir tank after melting mine on my header for about 10 - 15 mins. Was just a gooey smoking hot mess of melted plastic. I'm currently burning off the rest off my manifold and engine.
I thought it was somethin worse after seeing smoke pouring out my hood. I started it and went inside to let it run and get use to the new filter, only to come back and find out I forgot to put the reservoir tank back on (took it off to bolt in battery).
I've only got a cpl days left to get it tested, hopefully this does the trick.

| Yes, I managed to take a cpl pics with my phone. Ill see if I can get em uploaded. So you can see what's left of it lol. I've drove it approx 40 kms/had it running for over an hour and still stinks like plastic. That should be good for my emissions test lol | |

I'm on the mobile site so its not showing the url to directly upload the pic in the forum. But at least you can see what a coolant reservoir tank looks like after being cooked for 15 mins lol. Must be pretty tough, I'm surprised there was anything left.

| I was so mad at myself, but it was freezing out and I was rushing.
I noticed a bit of a difference with the original air intake back on. It actually does feel a little slower but seems to run and accelerate smoother and even shift better. Still pretty sluggish though.
I'm debating whether to do a Seafoam application to the gas tank, oil and vacuum line. Apparently it has a good reputation for cleaning your motor and helping pass an etest. My only worry is the time frame, I have to get my etest this friday and I don't know if it will be completely all run through the engine by then (if I put it in tomorrow). I'm also worried about it cleaning too much and clogging something then having to replace a part. I'm still reading up on this stuff.

| i bought seafoam and used on my 20v after upgraded the fuel pump to 220lph. the stuff works absolutely great. before the car would sputter a bit from fuel not running through good, but after words now the car turns on and runs beautifully. I highly recommend it | |
